Just talked to Dustin and he is doing fairly well. He had to have a blood transfusion as his blood count was low. I believe they did GI testing to recheck to see where he is losing blood. They also used to think he was losing it from his large wound on his backside but that is healing nicely. I think that his body can't keep up building red blood cells when he is under any type of stress. He has recently had a fever for a few days and at this point am unsure if they had to start him back on antibiotics. If they do, then the injection to help with neck pain will be postponed. He also has not gotten up in his chair when he has fevers as they want him to rest. I just pray he doesn't lose any physical rehab ground when he isn't able to get up.
My wonderful neighbor brought me 2 rose bushes for Mothers Day stating that she knows my boys would have thought of me. I cried like a baby for them standing in for Forrest and Dustin.
It looks like he is leaning towards going to San Diego to Project Walk for 2-4 weeks and then heading to Orlando to continue. I think it would be good to be around such a positive environment where everyone is working their tails off to move forward. It would be a huge encourgement to all of us. I can''t even begin to think how we would do it as I would want Rick to go with us to help in his care and lifting. God will have to show us how to handle a month away from home and work.
Nerina continue to be a huge support to him , so much that the staff calls her "Christmas". "Here comes Christmas" they say knowing that whatever is going on with him is about to get well. She was so sweet to call and wish me a happy mother's day. It has been somewhat of a tearful day for me but tears are good.
love to all
