Hi everyone - I wanted to give you an update as I sit here at the VA on areas for prayer. The granularization tissue is blocking most of the trach area which prevents them for doing successful suctioning. He therefore has a lot of fluid in his lungs which makes it difficult for him to breath. They have tentatively scheduled him for lasar surgery on Tuesday to remove the excess tissue. If it gets impossible for them to get tubes down, I believe they would do an emergency surgery.
I wasn't sure what I would find when I walked in here yesterday around 1pm as Dustin has had a horrendous and painful week. They had changed out his trach at bedside which was very painful but everyone said Dustin was the biggest trooper of all. They woeren't sure how they would have handled at all and said he deserves an award. I am very proud of how his attitude has remained higher than any defeat. Dustin was glad to see a famiy face and we had a wonderful afternoon talking, reading National Geograhic magazines and then hooking him up with his last cd of the audio book he has been listening to. He will pick out his next book from a variety that he had been given for Christmas.
He had a great night's sleep last night after defeating a fever. When I came, his temperature was 100.8. Before I left for the night you could tell it was going up and sure enough it had gone to 102.8. They initiated a "protocal" and came and got blood to check for infections. I prayed for Dustin and we told a spirit of infirmity to go as well as prayed for his whole body. This morning the temperature is all gone, he slept great and was awake when I came in.
He is having difficulty breathing and of course they are also trying NOT to suction him since it irritates and worsens the granularization and it doens;t really work anyway, so they had given him pain med and soemthing for anxiety. We decided it best for him to sleep and let it all work so I am off to Kroger for a short walk and pick up a few things.
I will keep you posted and as always appreciate the prayers. God has taken every prayer and it preparing something great so HE will get the glory. Our job is to keep believing and keep praying without any doubt and patiently wait for God's best.
We have initiated the transfer and just waiting to hear. I believe I posted that he is third on the list. I believe and trust God for his favor and perfect plan in all of this.
love to all

I praise God that you are able to be with him. I think that is critical at this juncture. He can hook up to your faith and that is a big help when you are under attack. I am believing that the transfer will be a smooth one and come without delay. I know that though you want him closer, your primary concern is to have him out of pain and on the road to recovery.
I am so proud of the three of you. Your faith has bolstered my own. Truly nothing is impossible with God.
We continue to pray.
