Not a lot to say today other than way more 4 letter words than I have heard in probably all of my life. I keep reminding myself that the psychiatrist said that when we look back he won't remember any of it. It seems like he is getting more delirious from being in a time warped ICU but physically he is getting much stronger.
The "therapy team" came again this morning and he called them every name in the book even when they capped his trach tube so he could talk out loud. His favorite speech therapist brought chocolate milk, yogurt, skittles and chocolate chip cookies. He only made it through the milk and yogurt which he proceeded to spit out all over everywhere. They stopped the feeding but continued to sit him up. They then moved him to a big chair thing and he as been sitting up since 10:30 this morning (it is now 4:30). He has held his own with breathing and not tiring out, although he hasn't really slept for several days.
His liver and pancreatic enzymes are decreasing and they did not see any problems with the scan they did yesterday as far as any infection. So yeah for the little things.
My friend Gretchen left today at noon. She was a wonderful support. Rick drove to Orlando and back yesterday after getting Dustin's stuff and life moves on.
They are putting Dustin back into bed after 6 hours of sitting up. Hopefully he can sleep and tomorrow will be a much better day.
I pull down all defiling words he has spoken over me and everyone today and ask that the real Dustin please step forward!
Pray for a spirit of cooperation to overtake Dustin and for potty mouth to go!
love you all

Boy! Talk about an exercise in separation. I pray the Holy Spirit will teflon coat you so those fiery darts cannot pierce you,
Keep asking the real Dustin that God knew before the foundation of the world to come forth.
We did this last month with a son who was screaming and cursing. Every time Ray said it, the son hung up. Ray persisted.
The following day he called Ray to apologize and just last week we met with him in Jackson and we prayed together in a truck stop. Before we left the son asked if he could pray for us.
While he was yelling and cussing, it looked helpless, hopeless. But apparently something broke in the heavenlies before it manifested on earth.
We have a new son. I do not for one moment make light of the journey and the rehab, Dustin has. But where there is God, there is hope.
I know God loves you and chose you to be Dustin's mom and He has a plan for good.
We pray for you every morning and every night and often in-between.

Hi Mary Pat, I am praying for you and Dustin, Rick and Nerina today and will continue to do so.
It seems like a lot of people are getting hit between a rock and a hard place, and God is not phased with the challenge of being there for you more than 100%. Just letting you know Brad and I love you and are praying for you.
You are not alone in these things befalling you, and I just want you to know that your extended "believer" family here on the West Coast loves you and is here for you. Remember to care for yourself, too. Remember to go to the One whose yoke is easy and burden is light, and He will give you rest.
Hugs

Rick and MaryPat,
Praying Gods blessings on you and your son.
"My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Ex 33:14
