Dustin is making great progress. He is beginning to breathe on his own which is such a big step! He should be off of the ventilator within a week. He has started to smile again and can answer basic commands with some blinking.
God has answered some of our prayers. Through a local pastor we have been blessed with a place for Mary Pat to live while staying here in Albuquerque with Dustin. We will be moving into the penthouse Sunday. Mary Pat will be staying on for several weeks or what ever it takes before Dustin is transferred to rehab. God is so BIG. We asked and He delivered us a place that is rented only to the movie stars (Sylvester Stallone was there just last week). Looks like a modern 3 story apt. from New York with all the perks. Hot tub on the roof with a fire place and full outdoor kitchen and a great view. Only 3 miles from the hospital and right down town in the financial district.
We are still taking each day at a time and thank you all for your love and prayers.
(By the way, there were several comments on previous posts about Mary Pat's birthday - her actual birthday is November 4th, but we appreciate the wishes!)

Hi, Marypat and Rick,
This is the first time that I saw this blog and read all the entries, but I just wanted you to know that you and Dustin have been in my thoughts and prayers so much since you left PV the other day! Praise God that He answered your prayers and gave you a place to stay, MP, better than you could've even imagined...HE knew what you needed before you even asked, I'm sure, and HE is faithful to provide! Just like He is right there with you, holding you in His arms and comforting you, I'm sure. The Bible says, "Call on me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things that you know not." (don't remember the reference...I'm at my sister's computer in Asheville where I came again for a few days to care for my mom.) I'm sure you are doing that as well. He's a good God and He will continue to take you through this journey, I'm sure, but, please know that we are all there rooting and praying for you as you go. Heb 12:1-3. Read Ch 11 first about all the men of faith that went before.
