Sat Night Live!

Today Mom is back from Virginia and happy to see Dustin! I was greeted by him sitting up in bed and "talking away". I am learning to read lips and much he says is very understandable, but other sentences are difficult. He gets frustrated when I can't understand him. He was however, mostly pleasant, as I was expecting a lot of "potty mouth". There are lots of issues he needs to work on now as all defense are down. A lot of anger that has been covered up since childhood plus a new layer.

This afternoon, he had a headache so they gave him a big bolus of Fentanyl and boy he went down hill. It's like they gave him a "mean shot" and then it was a lot of foul mouth and death talk. I know it is the medicine talking and I keep pulling down all of the words and cancelling their power.

He got to go outside again on the roof with Gretchen (my best friend from Florida), myself, the nurse and the respiratory therapist. This was after his big medicine and he didn't seem to be too happy about it but after a 30 minute outdoor time, they brought him back into the room and he settled down. He sat up for over 2 hours and tolerated it well.

They are beginning to wean him off the respirator and he is doing well and practicing swallowing. He will have a swallowing test and if he "passes" it can begin having food. He had his first Popsicle today, a cherry one, but he was not impressed.

I am really grateful my friend is here with me. She is the one who originally gave me the book, :A More Excellent Way" when we both worked at a health food store fighting off occultism. Rick has flown home and lucky him he gets to see the dogs! I know it will be wonderful for him to have some home time. He has done so much for all of us in so many ways. I love him dearly.

Dustin has a little temperature now and they have given him Tylenol. HE has had two great conversations with Nerina and it really is special to watch his face when he talk to her. We learned from "translating" his talking that his nickname for her is "Muffin" which he obviously remembered and "Sweetheart". He smiles and answers her questions and then I translate it to her.

We continue to look for the best rehab and if you are interested take a look at www.projectwalk.com or org.??? It is a spinal cord injury bootcamp and it jives with all we have learned at Be in Health, i.e. you can develop a neuropathway to do whatever if you work at it long enough.

We also ordered a movie today suggested by our film friend called "The finger of God". It was a zero budget film made after a film guy had an accident and shows the miracle of God. I look forward to watching it.

That's all for today. Dustin is resting quietly. Gretchen rented a car so we are off to
Whole Foods, Walmart and finally Indian food.

We love you all.

Dear Rick & Mary Pat,
Brad and I are still praying for Dustin and y'all. May God's love continue to be 'felt' even in this time, and we are praying for a miracle of healing. From your report, it sounds like God's already done a miracle - up and starting talking and maybe food, so we pray it will continue and that things will improve. Love you much, and glad your friend could come and be with you.
Hugs
Brad & Autumne

I love being able to check on all of you without intruding or interrupting you.
Rick got out of the van and immediately the dogs were there to greet him. He gave them good tousles on the ears and just loved on them.
Sounds like he has a full week ahead of him to get 'er done.
So glad Gretchen is there with you.
Still asking around about a plane. Believing that God has one for him somewhere.
