thanks for everyone's prayers in this situation and just knowing that you are out there for us is a comfort. Dustin will be going into surgery today at 1:30 where they will fuse his c3-c6 together. they will also do a tracheotomy so he can get this big thick tube out of his mouth which is uncomfortable. This area of the spine controls breathing and he may be on a ventilator for awhile and his diaphragm muscles strengthen and God willing that new neuropathways will develop for him to breath on his own. As of last night he was not alert even though they had taken him off all sedation at 11am the day before. He did try to open one eye yesterday and has gross motor movements in his upper body. They still term this quadraplegia since he has no upper body fine motor skills AT THIS TIME. We are still beleiving for miracle so please keep praying for those.
I may try to find a room or something and stay for the next 2-8 weeks before Dustin would be transferred to rehab. There are many unknowns at this time. I may ask some of you who are able to come keep me company and add normalcy to all of this.I have found so far that that is the most important thing. I think we hope to go to that new Christian movie sometime this week. tiffany and family (our daughter, husband granddaughters) are on their way here today. tiffany is great on the computer and will help us make some needed arrangements She also consults with the Craig Rehab that specializes in this and says they are awesome. We also have the FDR spinal rehab in Warm Springs but all depends on many things. As usual we have the great 7000 people alongside of us. Niven Drybrough , a pastor is a 7000 member and very comforting to us as well as Pastor anita. what a trooper she is as she walks with us on this trek.
Please pray for Nerina, Dustin's long time girlfriend. She and her family will be coming out sometime this week. this is a very hard time for all of us but God is bigger than it all. We will try to keep you updated and please feel free to pass this information onto anyone. As much as we would like to talk to everyone it its hard and Rick is doing much of is for us. Please pray for his strength and health as well.

the Shales are praying that the deep mercies of God will pour out on you. We pray that God will do a miracle that will astound the physicians because of the great Physician.

I pray that our precious Lord will strengthen Dustin each day. That he will be made whole in his spirit, soul and body.
