Another Monday Update

Dustin was a little sleepy this morning but after his big bath boy it was like "yee haw" he became very alert, smiling and almost a laugh when Nerina was telling him a story about Bartholomew the stuffed otter on his bed.

Not sure if it is clear but his C3 is intact and the fuse was from C4-C6 and called an "incomplete" injury. He is having a little battle with penumonia/fever which effects his breathing ability but he is pulling forth and the hope is to wean him off the ventilator in a few weeks. They say this is very normal with this type of injury.

He will have to strengthen those diaphragm muscles and get the coughing reflex back but we are very hopeful.

Here is some hopeful info that Nerina's mom, Nerina, researched on "incomplete" injury. Continue to pray that Dustin is working on all this for his movie and does not get despaired as he realizes he has to wait on God's timing and not his own.

There are two types of lesions associated with a spinal cord injury, these are known as complete and incomplete injuries. A complete injury means the person is completely paralysed below their lesion. Whereas an incomplete injury, means only part of the spinal cord is damaged. A person with an incomplete injury may have sensation below their lesion but no movement, or visa versa. There are many types in incomplete spinal cord injuries, and no two are the same.

A person with an incomplete spinal cord injury has been shown to have a better chance of recovery than that of a complete injury. The degree of recovery ranges from significant motor function, to the return of sensation. It is uncommon however, for someone to recover function and sensation to that of their pre injury ability.

That's all for today. We are headed to our loft where we have no internet access. So I will be back in the morning and fill you in on Dustin's and God's and your prayers progress report.

We love you and appreciate everyone's love and support. We "feel the love"

Rick and Mary Pat

p.s - Rick will be setting up a medical fund for Dustin and we will post the info.

We in Montana are praying for Dustin and all of you. As you know God is there with you, giving you strength and the stamina to endure this hardship.
I have a son who was in the hospital for 3 1/2 months--out one week--transfered to Seattle WA.for more surgeries along with weeks of recovery and more surgeries. It is a very long and painful time. His injuries were far different than Dustin's, but just wanted to let you know that with God all things are possible. My son is doing very well today, it was only by the grace of God that he even survived his motorcycle accident.

Praying for a miracle, which we know is possible. It is good to read your blog. To learn of God's answer to your housing need. He will meet all your needs as they arise, keep us posted so we can pray specifically as well.
In Christ--Maria

Hey Rick and Mary Pat
Kempton and the kids send their love. Thanks for keeping us all informed how you all are doing. We will keep it going.

It is that God of peace that Great shepherd of the sheep that makes you perfect that we are all trusting in to direct us in our prayers and in our speech. I know that faith is coming as we hear of the word about you and yours to keep our prayers powerful and effective in this time of need.
We all love you two so very much
