Sunday- another day of rest after the battle

My friend Gretchen and I went to church and it was a great message on the confidence of Joseph. Thrown in a pit by his brothers, sold into slavery, taking the rap for Potipher's wife's lust and thrown into jail and he still kept his confidence in God and God blessed him. It was a perfect mesaage for me and every song seemed like it was for me as well.

The battle has been strong today. Dustin has developed bedsores on his head and coccyx and also continues to get anxiety which prevents him from being weaned off the ventilator. He also is not satisfied with his life as he sees it because he can't see any hope for the future. All he sees is this room with a glass door and all these people poking and prodding and is wanting to give up. Please pray that he will get a glimpse of hope that will sustain him as he moves forward and that the bedsores will be healed immediately.

My mother's health is also rapidly declining and my brother and I are having to deal with home health, hospice and just a lot of logistics. Please pray for my brother, Don, as he is the sole responsible one in Virginia now handling things that are tough and moving so fast. He is a great brother!! I wish I could be there with my mom but I need to be here with Dustin.

My favorite neuro-resident's last day is tomorrow. She has been a tremendous help to me and always explaining so many things with great patience. I will miss her. There are so many things happening and changing right now. I am grateful that the Rock that I lean on is always the same...yesterday, today and forever. That focus and stability will move me through all of this.

Psalm 23 has always been a favorite for me and God showed me another revelation the other day. It says "yea though I walk through the valley of death... and then later it says "surely goodness and mercy will follow me"... I have to keep walking in order for something to follow me. I continue walking through this valley and I promise you as I do God's goodness and mercy is on my heels. I refuse to camp out in this valley. I am not setting up a tent.... I am marching. This is God's battle and I am just a foot soldier.

Please pray for all of our family as we continue to march.

We love you all
Mary Pat

Hey Mary Pat,

Thanks for the updates. We continue to pray for yall. After reading one of Rick's posts, God laid it on my heart what to pray and it was so good to call out to the Father on Dustin's behalf.

Have fun with Gretchen. Tell her I made the Governor cookies and everyone loved them - they are doozies!

Dear Rick and Mary Pat,
We continue to pray for you and Dustin here in Massachusetts. Your blog is so helpful in knowing how to pray.
You are reminding me of the Shunnamite woman in 2 Kings 4:18-37. Because she refused to speak negatively regarding her son's situation and totally believed God to restore him, God worked a miracle through Elisha and raised the boy from the dead!
We agree with the Shunnamite woman and say that, in the Lord, "Everything is alright."
We stand with you believing for Dustin's healing and restoration.
Love,
Ruth

Mary Pat,
My prayers and thoughts are with you daily.
A friend sent this link to me today and I thought it may be helpful to you all. There is a video or you can just listen to the prayer. It is similar but different to the FML Father's love.
You both are faithful and loyal servants to our father and I know he will honor that. Blessings, Laurie Lin

One more thing: Daniel 10:10-13
This is a declaration of Faith for you both.
The LORD looks upon Mary Pat and Rick with great favor and fills their life to overflowing with His blessings. They humble themselves under His mighty hand and He responds to them with tender compassion. His love complels them to move forward in courage and confidence, and they refuse to allow fear to overwhelm them. They are flooded with rivers of understanding as they acknowledge the Holy Spirit's presence within. Through Him, they have an anointing to know exactly what to do in any given situation. The principles and powers of the devil's army pose no significant problem for them, for their God is with them. Their steadfast and persistant prayers open up a highway for the angels of the Most High - freeing them to shower them with the blessings of Heaven. They shall wait with confidence for the answers to their prayers, for they have the LORD's unfailing WORD that He will give them what they have asked for. Amen
